CASE-ing the Catty #153 – Tags

This week’s CASE-ing the Catty challenge sure is a good’un.  Tags. I love tags. As a wrapping addict, I consider tags to be an important part of the whole wrapping package. A pretty tag can really make the whole package sing.

The Holiday catalogue, in particular, has so many gorgeous examples of tags and a new punch (Everyday Label Punch) and two coordinating stamp sets, which have been particular favourites of mine lately.

With so much to choose from it was hard to pick just one project to CASE. However, I love this little tag from p 30.

My take on this gorgeous design was to turn it into a bookmark. I’ve been making a lot of bookmarks for my little bookworm Heather lately, she always has several books on the go (don’t we all!) and I was a bit over her habit of sticking in whatever was at hand (another book, a tissue, a fork, her brother’s shoe, you get the picture) as a bookmark. It’s  super easy to make your own cute bookmark with a few Stampin Up! supplies. Cut a piece of cardstock 2 inches wide, punch the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch, add some pretty DSP and some stamping, et voila, custom bookmark goodness!

I always give a lot of books as gifts. Partly because books are just super awesome and you can always find the perfect book for anyone, and partly (well, ok, a lot) because they just look so neat and pretty all wrapped up. If I could I would have nothing but books under the tree, all in their regular lovely rectangular packages. So I thought it would be super cute to make a Christmas bookmark to pop in with a book gift – a nice little extra touch as well as being significantly more practical than a fork for marking your page.

In this case, I used the super cute reindeer from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set. I was thrilled that this favourite set from last year’s Holiday catalogue was carried over into the annual catalogue this year.

Speaking of carry-overs, this week I’m off to On Stage, the Stampin Up gathering, where we will get to see the next catalogue (Occasions) and maybe see if anything will be carrying over from the Holiday catalogue. Personally, I’m really hoping that the Everyday Label Punch will stick around and there will be another coordinating stamp set in the Occasions catalogue because it is such an awesome punch. Can’t wait to report in a few weeks on what new goodies we get to see!
