Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Animals

After a bit of a hiatus from blogging I’m so happy to be back with my teamies, blogging so many amazing animal creations using Stampin Up! products. If you’re starting here then don’t forget to keep on hopping along with the whole team, or hello if you’ve joined me from the awesome Mandy’s blog.

When thinking about what I might make for this challenge I first pulled out all the stamp sets I had with animals in them. This turned out to be quite a pile. There are so many animal images in the Stampin Up! catalogue. Some are obviously animal themed, like This Little Piggy, others are less obvious, like the adorable doggy in Bike Ride.

With so many fabulous choices, how could I choose just one?! So I had the idea to use a heap of different sets, both current and retired, to make a set of number flash cards for my about to be 2 year old.

These are the sets I used. Some of these are retired favourites which I still use pretty often and am unlikely to ever part with.

I used the Large Number thinlits and scraps of bright coloured cardstock to make the numbers (gotta love a project that uses up scraps). The bases are thick whisper white, cut to 3×4″ with the corners rounded using the envelope punch board.

The Cornucopia of animals were stamped in various coloured inks then coloured with a combination of the watercolour pencils and Stampin’ markers. I really have been neglecting my other colouring tools since my blends arrived under the Christmas tree,  so I thought it would be nice to give them some love for this project.

My husband walked past while I was making them and asked if I was enjoying my “adult colouring in activity”. Yes, yes I was, thank you. Who doesn’t love a bit of colouring in? Very therapeutic.

It was lots of fun picking the different animals and arranging them on the cards.

As I was putting them out to photograph these little hands appeared to explore them and he was most effusive in pointing out all the different animals. They certainly caught his attention, so that’s a good start! Let’s see if we can get him counting past three (and it’s usually “one, two, three, GO!” from the mini-racer).

This is one of the things I love about my collection of paper and ink. So much more you can do with them than just make cards!

Time to keep on hopping along like a bunny to the gorgeous Narelle to see her animal themed project.
