Hello all! I’m so happy to have you here as you hop along with some of Kelly’s very many stamping friends to celebrate her birthday. It’s so very Kelly-esque to be marking her birthday by bringing together a whole heap of people to share their creations. And after all, “nothing says Happy Birthday like a piece of paper folded in half”, right?
This post contains a couple of confessions. Nothing obvious like giving up my age (because it’s the same as Kelly’s, we’ve been friends since school, so I’m not dumping her in it). But a papercraft confession that may shock you all.
I don’t like fancy fold cards.
There. I said it. No personal vendetta or particular reason, they’ve just never done it for me. Seem like too much bother for not much gain.
But then, a curious thing happened a few weeks ago. I thought I should do something a bit fancier than the usual plain old ordinary card for Kelly’s birthday (I went a bit radical last year, as well) so decided to give a fancy fold a go.
And now I’m hooked. I confess I’m eating my words. Turns out I love me a fancy fold. It’s so much fun and a great way to showcase DSP, like this beautiful Petal Passions paper from the Occasions Catalogue.
In fact, this whole suite is just gorgeous and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it all. I’m thrilled that the stamp set and dies are carrying over to the new annual catalogue, but will sure miss this paper. I’m torn between using it all up and hoarding it for some future critical time #paperaddictproblems.
I have no problem sacrificing some of it on the altar of Kelly’s birthday, though. Since my fancy fold card measures 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ I made a custom envelope for it with a sheet of DSP as well.
Another favourite from the Occasions catalogue is the Birthday Wit stamp set from which this fun sentiment comes from. No one is going to find that as amusing as a fellow card maker. This set is unfortunately not being carried over but is one of those sets that I won’t be retiring from my personal use any time soon.
So Happy Birthday to my beautiful, creative, generous friend Kelly. You haven’t aged a bit in the 20 years I’ve known you, just grown wiser.

Such a beautiful project Siobhan, I wouldn’t have thought to put the sentiment set with the Petal Passion products but it works really well.

Hmmm, or someone who doesn’t like fancy folds, you’ve smashed it out of the park! What a fab card. I too wouldn’t have put that sentiment with that suite, but it really does work!
