CASE-ing the Catty #179 – Kits

This week’s CASE-ing the Catty challenge is to CASE your favourite kit from the Occasions or Annual catalogue. Kits are a great way to get into card making or to get a bulk load of beautiful cards done quickly. There have been some beautiful kits this last year, but my favourite has been the Color Me Happy kit which was released with the Stampin’ Blends. I know, I know, it may be pushing it to include this kit as part of this challenge, but as it is currently available in the online store I consider it to be fair game.

Lots of people buy these kits and then chop and change them, mixing up the elements or using the card bases to make other designs. I’m far too OCD to do that, I can’t mess with the kit, it has to be put together as intended. But I certainly can be inspired by the designs and colours of the kit cards, as I have here. The stamp set that goes with this kit is just gorgeous and I’ve had a lot of use out of it already.

So taking the colours and elements of the kit as my inspiration, I made this little his and hers gift bag combination as a thank you gift for a couple. The birds and thank you sentiment are from the Color Me Happy stamp set and coloured with Stampin’ Blends (by far my favourite colouring medium).

The bags have been made with the Gift Bag Punch Board using papers from the Naturally Eclectic DSP.

The cute corners on the front panel are punched using the new Detailed Trio Punch from the upcoming annual catalogue which launches next month. The gold ribbon is a favourite from the Annual Catalogue, drawing on the touches of gold from the kit cards.

Mrs Bird is coloured in Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends.

Mr Bird is splendid in Pool Party. I (poorly) fussy cut the birds out. My only wish is that there was a punch or die for these birds!

This was actually a quick little pair to make and easy to fill with some yummy treats to give as a thank you gift.

Always fun to play along with CASE-ing the Catty!
