ESAD Designer Series Paper Blog Hop

Happy Sunday, everyone! It’s been a cold and wet weekend here in Perth, perfect crafting weather! And what better way to end the weekend than by hopping along to see the fabulous variety of projects being shared this month by some of the ESAD members in this here blog hop.

I’m thrilled to be partaking again and thank you for being here, whether you are starting here or if you’ve hopped along from Kim Oliver. The ESAD members always provide the most amazing source of inspiration in the monthly blog hop theme, which this time is the DSP available in Stampin Up!’s July Buy 3 Get 1 Free promo.

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I am a paper hoarder, I mean, lover. Every year SU! seems to come up with a new and better collection than ever before, and this year they’ve knocked it out of the park again.

When we first got a look at the new papers in the 2018/19 Annual Catalogue the one I was most excited about was Animal Expedition.

This whole suite had me super excited because my seven year old is absolutely animal mad. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of the animal kingdom. My husband and I joke that our holiday planning these days is based largely on what zoos we will visit. Her favourite animal is the sloth – this is her last year in Singapore when she spent almost an hour just standing watching this sloth right in front of her. She was in absolute heaven.

So of course Heather was particularly thrilled when she saw this paper and requested something made “from all of it”. I’ve long admired both the sampler style projects and also the baby announcements that you often see clever papercrafters make, so decided to make her a name board for her room.

The beautiful paper made this project so easy. Heather helped to select what went in each frame space (I used a collage photo frame that had two 6 x 8″ and four 4 x 6″ frames already cut out).

The rest came together using the matching Animal Freinds thinlits which also cut some of the figures from the DSP (I love this!) and the Large Letter dies. We used Highland Heather cardstock – Heather was also thrilled to see this new colour and now wants everything made in her “signature colour” as she calls it.

The Large Number dies are retired but oh so useful and will always have a place in my craftroom. We also used the gorgeous new Sweet Baby stamps and Bouncing Baby dies to make the cute little baby girl and onesies to go on this panel. This was the entirety of stamping and colouring that I did for this project – the rest is just that gorgeous paper and coordinating cardstock.

My little Sloth loving girl is absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. Now we just have to get Daddy to hang it in the perfect spot in her room and she will have a pretty keepsake, all the more special because we completed this project together.

Now I just have to make one for her little brother as well – I’m thinking Best Route may be perfect for Mr vehicle obsessed – and soon I’ll know whether to pick a boy or girl themed for Number Three Baby who is due to bless us with his or her presence very, very  soon!
