Spooky salutations, crafting friends. This month the Paper Adventures team is indulging in a little Halloween fun. Although Halloween is gaining popularity in Australia it’s still not something we really “do” here. With quite a few North American friends and family though we’ve always had a bit of Halloween fun in our family, though. Funnily enough Heather is not one for dress ups normally but every year she puts a lot of thought into her Halloween costume and loves to dress up for the day. My favourite was this Monarch Butterfly from two years ago.
This year’s Halloween goodies in the Stampin Up! Holiday catalogue are as gorgeous as always. I’m hoping that between now and Halloween I get to make a few more goodies but for tonight’s blog hop I’ve whipped up this fun card.
I love this witch character from the Toil & Trouble DSP. Although there are dies available to go with the matching stamp I’ve just fussy cut her from the DSP itself. This DSP is just so much fun, and with all the cool critters and characters I can see lots of uses for it beyond just Halloween – Harry Potter cards, anyone?
The colours of this witch are a striking combination of purples and oranges. The striped panel across the back is also cut straight from the DSP.
For the background, I’ve used a stamp from the retired Merry Cafe set from last year’s Holiday catalogue. As I keep saying, just because something is retired, doesn’t mean you can’t use it and love it still! I’ve heat embossed it in white on Basic Black to make this spiderweb background.
The two colours I’ve used for the mats are Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody. They look so good offset with the neutral black and greys elsewhere.
Halloween crafting is such fun. I’m hoping I get to play some more with this theme and this gorgeous paper this week. I have another project half finished sitting on my desk – the baby girl did not want to cooperate with Mummy’s crafting plans today. I’m sure there will be many more things I’m inspired to try after looking through tonight’s blog hop as well. Make sure you hop on over to Mandy next to see what she has in store – she’s been having lots of fun with the Cauldron Bubble Bundle (try saying that ten times fast!) so make sure you also look at her other projects while you’re there, and hop on through the rest of the team for some spooktacular fun!
