Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop August – Baby

Hello and thank you for being here, whether you’ve hopped on over from our fabulous guest designer Rochelle, or if you’re starting here.

This month’s Paper Adventures team hop is pretty appropriately themed for me. You see I’ve been working on a pretty special baby project and three weeks ago that project came to its very adorable and squishy conclusion.

Miss Genevieve is an absolute delight and we are all besotted with her, but particularly her big brother and sister. She’s an absolute dream but she hasn’t allowed me very much time at the crafting table. I have a long list of thank you cards to make, though, so I’ll need to get on to those as soon as possible!

Not surprisingly baby cards have been on my mind the last couple of months. They are such fun to make, and there are some absolutely gorgeous stamp sets in the kids and babies section of the 2018 Stampin’ Up! catalogue. One of the very first sets that took my eye in the new catalogue was the Little Elephant bundle (p.91). The gorgeous elephant duo, one small and one big, are such fun. The stamp set is beautiful and the punch works just as well on its own, as I’ve used it here.

I’ve made a trio of elephant baby cards in three different colour ways.

A neutral colour palette for those (like us) who like to keep baby’s gender as a surprise. Grey and yellow is my go-to baby gender neutral scheme. This combination of Basic Grey and Crushed Curry is always a winner. I absolutely love the return this year of the DSP stacks in each colour family – you always have a pretty dsp in whatever colour you are using. So versatile.

I made the elephant pop on this more neutral colour palette by punching the large elephant from silver foil. And a little banner of woodgrain dsp also adds a little extra interest without being too distracting.

For my boy coloured card, I went with a less conventional green and orange colour scheme. The new In Color Call Me Clover is such a bright, fun green, especially paired with Grapefruit Grove.

A Basic Grey elephant is not too basic at all, and I’ve used some of the gorgeous leaf ribbon to add a little extra something to the card. This ribbon is one of my favourite accessories from the new catalogue.

Finally for the girl version I’ve gone with Lovel Lipstick and Mint Macaroon. I like to use bright colours instead of the more common baby blue and pale pink. Although I’ve slipped a little pale pink in with the heart in Blushing Bride.

The flower element is from the Petal Passion Embellishments in the last Occasions catalogue – retired but not forgotten!

The “Congratulations” sentiment on all of the cards is from the 2018 hostess set Hand Delivered. I love the font in this set and it fits my favourite small banner punch perfectly.  I love taking one design and switching up the colour palette to give you different looks. Altogether I think they are a pretty cute trio.

Although not as cute as this trio 🙂

And one more baby pic, because when there’s this much cuteness it really needs to be shared.

Now hop along to Mandy to see her fabulous creation this month. And if you haven’t already checked out Kelly and Rochelle’s projects then keep hopping along to see them, too.

How darn cute is that little elephant! Love your cards you have made! I am not surprised that little Genevieve has not given you much craft time lately, I bet most of the time you spend just looking at her! xx
